How Working Outside Can Help Improve Attention for Adults with ADHD

working outside can help people with adhd

You need to take your laptop outside today. ☀️

Multiple studies suggest:

1. Working outside can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

2. Memory and attention span improve by being in nature—or simply by looking at nature photos! 🌿

3. Sitting outdoors naturally reduces heart rate and blood pressure, helping to mitigate stress.

For my clients with ADHD and executive dysfunction, prioritizing breaks outside during the workday reduces “attention fatigue.” 💡

Studies have shown that adults with more exposure to nature demonstrate greater overall attentiveness. So we build in nature breaks throughout their day and even include this as part of their care plans!

Now, if I could find a full-proof way to avoid mosquitoes, I’d move my home office onto this porch. 😵‍💫

How do you work “nature breaks” into your day?
